Yup, it is important and that’s really a blocker for me that such feature is missing.
It’s nearly 6 years since this request was created and still no progress.
I’m starting to doubt in getting this implemented at all.

Well, actually F-Stop is not even reading XMP & JPEG + Exif tags from cloud drive (which it saved itself locally, then files have been moved to cloud drive) – tested on SMB.
Are there any plans for saving metadata (especially as XMP in JPEG files) on cloud drives?
(even at least on existing SMB support)
I miss that very much as I have very limited space in my phone, without card slot and I have to move all photos to NAS shortly after taking some photos since years.
It’s important feature.
Of course, all cloud services should have WRITE support for saving metadata (including tags, rates, favourites, etc.).
