It’s been quite awhile since I visited this forum. Just curious as to what hardware people are using in this day and age. I am looking at a 10 inch minimum screen size tablet to run Fstop on and to hold a large collection. I have a Galaxy Tab A, which was updated to Android 7.1.1 recently, but Samsung don’t see the wisdom in giving write access to the SD card. It’s a pretty nice tablet, and totally worthless for what I want to use it for. It lays around, collecting dust most of the time. The SD card is mostly empty. I need a tablet that I can sync with my computer, and carry the images around with me, and that I can edit the pictures on the device (tags mostly). Looking at tablets in stores on line is frustrating, they all say “expandable with SD card slot”, but can you actually use the storage? I have a Moto X Pure Edition phone, which has pure Android (like a Nexus), and I was able to encrypt my SD card, folding external and internal storage into one. I am looking for a tablet with a feature like this. None of descriptions in stores cover this aspect of the devices. I’m looking at the ASUS ZenPad 3S, but can’t find enough info as to the storage situation. I’m also considering a chrome book that can install apps from the Play store. Not a good option as far as I can tell. I don’t want to be tethered to a wifi all the time. I might give up on Android and buy a Surface Pro, but then Fstop would be out of the picture. Fstop is still the best app out there for organizing and viewing images. I don’t even have software this good on my PC, and I have a lot of programs.
