For some reason I have some duplicate tags in my list of tags. One of the copies doesn’t have any photos associated.
I suspect that one of the copies contains a trailing space, which my keyboard (SwiftKey) adds automatically when I select a suggested word. Somewhere in the processing, this trailing space is probably removed.
IF this is the cause of the duplicate I would suggest that tags are stripped from trailing (or indeed beginning) whitespace immediately after the user has pressed the add button, i.e. before the tag is registered anywhere.
